Thanks to her perfect weekend, Kiara Fontanesi has reclaimed the red plate for the first time in quite a while. The six-time WMX World Champion now leads Daniela Guillen by just two points. Unsurprisingly, the title battle is expected to come down to these two riders. It would be a historic achievement either way: a record-extending seventh world title for the Italian, further cementing her legendary status, or a maiden world crown for the Spaniard.
Courtney Duncan now sits alone in third place in the championship. Building momentum round after round, the New Zealander will be aiming to return to the top step of the podium before the end of the season.
Shana van der Vlist remains fourth thanks to her consistency and leads a tightly packed group of five riders separated by just five points. Behind her are Malou Jakobsen, Lucy Barker, Lotte van Drunen and Amandine Verstappen. With the next round taking place in the Netherlands, the home race could prove decisive in this battle and create a bigger gap in the standings.
April Franzoni sits ninth, around ten points behind this group. Lynn Valk drops to tenth after missing the Foxhill round. Nellie Fransson is knocking on the door of the top ten. With explosive starts and consistent performances, the Swede appears to have rediscovered her best form. Danée Gelissen is twelfth overall. The reigning European Champion has endured a difficult season with several setbacks but recovered well after a challenging first moto at Foxhill.
Alexandra Massury is thirteenth, level on points with Gelissen. The French rider seems to have taken another step forward, and her top-ten finish in the opening race reflects that progress. Mathea Selebo climbs to fourteenth, overtaking Tyra Bäckström after an impressive weekend. Despite racing while ill, the Swede managed to score valuable points and remains inside the top 15.
It was a more difficult weekend for Hilda Sjöberg, but she still collected three points to move into sixteenth place, ahead of Larissa Papenmeier. Elsa Andersson Lof follows after adding nine points to her tally at Foxhill. Amber Simons is nineteenth, ahead of Luana Neves, who continues to score consistently despite being in her rookie season.
Rosalita Hovind recorded her best-ever WMX result in the second moto at Foxhill, allowing her to climb to twenty-first in the championship. She now sits ahead of Jenny Engeland and Lilly-Ann Pettus, who enters the standings for the first time this season. Laura Raunkjaer, Tanja Schlosser and Elena Kapsamer follow, while Adrija Skudutytė also opens her account after scoring her first championship points on Sunday.
