MXGP of the Netherlands : WMX Championship Classification

The GP of the Netherlands marks a turning point in the WMX World Championship. There are still two GPs on the schedule for this 2025 season, but it’s difficult to see clearly with riders absent in Turkey and a reshuffled grid in Australia with around ten riders from Europe.

Lotte van Drunen had a great weekend. Despite finishing second, the defending champion widened the gap on her pursuers before the final two rounds. Kiara Fontanesi had a weekend to forget. She maintains her second place but is now 20 points behind the leader. Daniela Guillen climbs to third place, 21 points behind. All three riders remain in contention for the title this season; anything is still possible.

Thanks to her podium finish this weekend, Shana van der Vlist climbs back to fourth place. The Dutchwoman will be in Turkey; for Australia, nothing is decided yet. Lynn Valk is now fifth and will continue to lose places following her serious injury this weekend. Amandine Verstappen is sixth, tied on points with Larissa Papenmeier. Danée Gelissen is eighth, one point behind this duo. The battle for the top five or higher promises to be very interesting. Martine Hughes is ninth, just ahead of April Franzoni, who will participate in the final two rounds.

Thanks to her excellent performance this weekend, Lucy Barker is now eleventh. Malou Jakobsen slips to twelfth after scoring some points despite her injuries in the Netherlands. The Dane hopes to be in Turkey. Sara Andersen climbs back to thirteenth place but finished her season in the world championship. Mathea Selebø is fourteenth ahead of Tyra Bäckström. The Swede will travel to Turkey and can move up places at the end of the season.

Amber Simons is now 16th ahead of Elena Kapsamer (who will only be present in Turkey) and Alexandra Massury, who will be present for the last two rounds and could reach the final Top 15. Fiona Hoppe is 19th but is not expected to be present for the last two GPs. There is a German championship race on the same weekend as the GP of Turkiye. Jana Sanchez completes the current Top 20.

Laura Raunkjaer is 21st in the championship, ahead of Adrija Skudutyte by one point. Nellie Fransson is 23rd but was once again absent in the Netherlands. Elsa Andersson Löf is 24th. The Swede scored good points in the Netherlands for her final round of the season. Tanja Schlosser is 25th with only one GP under her belt, as is her pursuer, Giorgia Montini. Mara Benecke doubled her points this weekend, allowing her to overtake Virginie Germond and Gaia Franchi, both injured, in the standings. Aneta Cepelaková is 30th in the standings and will be present for the final two rounds. Rosalita Hovind rounds out the rankings, having scored her first point at the World Championship this weekend.

There’s still a lot that can happen in the final two rounds. Many changes are expected, particularly with the absence of some competitors from the remaining GPs.
