Victory in Tensfeld for Kiara Fontanesi

The fifth round of the ADAC German Motocross Championship took place this weekend on the sandy track of Tensfeld, and it delivered thrilling battles at every level.

Race 1 – Fontanesi controls, big comeback for Papenmeier

Kiara Fontanesi made the trip to Tensfeld as part of her preparation for the upcoming WMX round in Arnhem. The six-time world champion didn’t waste any time, grabbing the holeshot ahead of Wiktoria Kupczyk and Alexandra Massury. Behind them, Elena Kapsamer, Tanja Schlosser, and Kim Irmgartz formed a tight leading group.

Championship leader Larissa Papenmeier had a tough start, slipping and finding herself at the back of the pack in the first corner. But the German rider launched an aggressive comeback, re-entering the top 10 within the opening lap.

While Fontanesi quickly pulled away at the front, the fight for the podium was intense. Kapsamer made an impressive move in a corner, passing both Schlosser and Massury to take second. Papenmeier followed closely, moving into third after just seven minutes of racing.

Further back, Adrija Skudutyte crashed out of the top 10, and Amber Simons, who was making a strong comeback, made a small error in her battle for fourth with Massury. Barbara Aagaard Andersen secured sixth after a tight fight with Schlosser. Katharina Schultz climbed to eighth, ahead of Mara Benecke, while Jenitty van der Beek rounded out the top 10.

Race 2 – Fontanesi again, Massury in difficulty

Once again, Kiara Fontanesi was quickest out of the gate, taking the holeshot ahead of Papenmeier, Kupczyk, Skudutyte, and Simons. The leading duo immediately created a gap, with Amber Simons moving into third and a strong group forming behind her: Kapsamer, Kupczyk, and Skudutyte.

From 10th place at the end of lap one, Alexandra Massury worked her way up to fifth by lap three. However, a mistake allowed Fiona Hoppe to take advantage, as she battled with Mara Benecke and Barbara Aagaard Andersen.

Fontanesi extended her lead at the front and cruised to another race win. Larissa Papenmeier finished second again, while Elena Kapsamer capitalized on Simons’ late-race errors to snatch third. Barbara Aagaard Andersen secured fifth after overtaking Mara Benecke. Jenitty van der Beek finished seventh after another solid charge, followed by Massury, Katharina Schultz, and Franka Blümchen.

Overall Results – Fontanesi ends Papenmeier's streak

With a dominant 1-1 performance, Kiara Fontanesi ended Larissa Papenmeier’s unbeaten run in the German Championship. The Italian legend had a flawless weekend, gaining valuable confidence ahead of the MXGP of the Netherlands.

Papenmeier, despite finishing second in both motos, extended her lead in the championship standings. Austrian Elena Kapsamer (3-3) completed the overall podium and continues her consistent form, confirming her status after her second place at the 2025 EMX Women’s European championship.

Dutch rider Amber Simons (5-4) showed good pace despite still recovering from her crash at the German MXGP. Her fourth-place finish in race two was promising. Barbara Aagaard Andersen (6-5) also impressed, with a strong ride and solid rhythm, earning fifth overall.

Defending champion Alexandra Massury (4-8) had a mixed weekend. A solid first moto was followed by a tough second race full of mistakes, but she still managed to retain her position near the top of the championship.

Mara Benecke (9-6) improved in race two to finish seventh overall, just ahead of Jenitty van der Beek (10-7), who showed good speed but made too many errors. Katharina Schultz (8-9) delivered two steady rides for ninth overall. Franka Blümchen (12-10) closed out the top 10 in Tensfeld.
