Mayla Herrick experienced a rollercoaster of emotions this weekend. On Friday, she claimed a victory in the WMX US Championship in her debut appearance, coinciding with her birthday. Based on her pace, she was also a strong contender for the podium on Saturday.
Unfortunately, the Honda rider suffered a heavy crash at the start of the second moto, which brought out the red flag. She was attended to by the medical team and evacuated to hospital for further examination.
Her father later provided an update on social media, confirming that she has been released from the hospital and is now resting. She is sore and bruised but has not sustained any broken bones.
