Matilda Huss takes overall victory in Linköping

Matilda Huss capitalized on Malou Jakobsen’s misfortune to claim victory in the second round of the Swedish MXSM Motocross Championship in Linköping.

Race 1

Malou Jakobsen dominated the opening race before suffering a mechanical issue just over a lap from the finish. On a track made extremely difficult by heavy rain, Matilda Huss took advantage of the situation to secure a comfortable victory ahead of Natalie Kane.

Jenny Engeland (Husqvarna) rounded out the podium, while Mathea Selebø (Kawasaki) and Tyra Bäckström completed the top five.

Race 2

Sunday morning’s second race saw Malou Jakobsen (KTM) bounce back with a victory. Natalie Kane once again finished second, while Matilda Huss struggled to find her rhythm and crossed the line in third.

Tyra Bäckström (GasGas) finished fourth ahead of Jenny Engeland (Husqvarna).

Race 3

The final race of the weekend delivered a fierce battle between the three favourites.In the end, it was Malou Jakobsen who claimed the win, crossing the finish line less than a second ahead of Matilda Huss (Husqvarna).

Natalie Kane (Kawasaki) completed the podium, while Mathea Selebø finished fourth ahead of Tyra Bäckström.

Overall

Matilda Huss secured her first overall victory of the season in difficult conditions. Without the mechanical issue in Race 1, Malou Jakobsen looked set for a dominant weekend. Despite the setback, the KTM rider finished second overall and retained the red plate as championship leader.

Natalie Kane completed the overall podium on equal points with Jakobsen. Tyra Bäckström finished fourth overall and continues to build momentum, while Jenny Engeland rounded out the top five of the weekend.
