Six-time Women’s Motocross World Champion Kiara Fontanesi will return to the Bibione Sand Storm on October 23-25, taking part once again in the Italian round of the FIM Sand Races World Championship.
Fontanesi has competed at every edition of the Bibione Sand Storm since its debut and has quickly become a regular part of the event. The Italian rider says the unique atmosphere, the beach setting and the family-friendly environment are among the reasons she enjoys racing in Bibione.
This year’s edition will also have a special meaning for Fontanesi following the passing of Massimo Zamparo, who was closely involved with the event.
At 32, Fontanesi remains one of the most successful riders in motocross history. She has won six World Championship titles, 25 Grand Prix victories and nine Italian Championship titles.
Her competitive career is still going strong. Fontanesi currently sits second in the World Championship standings, just six points from the lead, while she leads the Italian Championship with a perfect points tally.
After completing her traditional motocross season, Fontanesi will turn her focus to the sand, with specific endurance training and bike preparation ahead of the Bibione Sand Storm. Having finished just short of victory in the previous two editions, Fontanesi will be aiming to finally add Bibione to her already impressive list of career achievements.
