The WMX riders closed out the Thunder Valley event with the second race of the weekend. Lachlan Turner grabbed the holeshot. The Altus Bru Cru Yamaha rider then crashed coming out of a corner, allowing Charli Cannon to take the lead. But the Quad Lock Honda rider was no match for the two-time WMX champion, who regained control to secure another victory and maintain her unbeaten streak.
The Australian certainly didn’t disgrace herself, constantly putting pressure on Lala. Finishing second overall, she still has a chance to clinch the title. Next week’s race will be an opportunity to turn things around.
Mikayla Nielsen staged a remarkable comeback throughout the race. After her setback on Friday, the SLR Honda rider was determined to make amends. She overtook Taylah McCutcheon on the final lap. The Partzilla Blaster PRMX Racing rider once again had a very strong start to the race. With this result, the Australian rider secured her first podium finish on American soil.
Jordan Jarvis achieved another top-five finish. After an average start, the Yamaha rider had to fight her way up the order. She had the pace to be higher up the order. Lotte van Drunen finished sixth in this second moto, not far behind Jarvis. The two-time WMX world champion complained yesterday about a lack of power from her bike, and it’s clear she’s not performing at her best. An average start, difficulties in a multi-rider battle—we hope she finds the solutions by next week.
Piper Bell once again had a great start. In the top five early in the race, she tried to fend off attacks from the other riders. A seventh-place finish capped off a good weekend. Lilly-Ann Pettus secured valuable points with an eighth-place finish on Saturday. After her heavy crash during practice, the Triumph rider gave it her all. Emma Milesevic finished ninth. The Australian seemed to struggle to find her rhythm. A good result nonetheless. Ava Silvestri secures another Top 10 finish. The Norman Racing driver, more accustomed to off-road racing, demonstrates impressive abilities.
A few days of rest before the third round, followed by a long break.
