RIEJU Factory Team’s Rosie Rowett took a dominant victory in the Expotrade Women’s Enduro class at her home Grand Prix. The young Brit was in exceptional form in the dry and dusty conditions, consistently setting the pace throughout the day. She eventually crossed the line with a commanding one-minute-and-eight-second advantage and will look to carry that momentum into tomorrow’s final day of racing.
World champion Rachel Gutish, also riding for RIEJU Factory Team, had a more difficult start to the day before gradually finding her rhythm. The American came on strong in the closing stages, posting the fastest times on both the final Extreme Test and Enduro Test to secure second overall. However, with Rowett proving particularly strong on the Cross Test, Gutish will need a better start tomorrow if she is to put her teammate under pressure.
Nieve Holmes (ET James Sherco UK) completed the podium in third. The Brit posted three of the day’s fastest times and remains firmly in contention for victory, meaning Rowett and Gutish will have another serious challenger to contend with tomorrow.
Mauricette Brisebard (Beta) and Justine Martel (Beta) completed the top five, with Marine Lemoine (KTM) finishing sixth.
In the Expotrade Junior Women’s category, Electraction TM MOTO’s Elizabeth Tett claimed the win ahead of Charlene Boudon and Lorna Lafont.
