Lotte van Drunen close to the points at Lommel

This weekend, the legendary sand track of Lommel hosted the MXGP of Flanders, one of the most physically demanding rounds on the calendar. Among the entries in the MX2 class was 2024 WMX World Champion Lotte van Drunen, making her third Grand Prix appearance in the category.

Back on the grid after scoring a point last year in Lommel and a participation earlier this season in Trentino, the De Baets MX Team rider used Saturday’s sessions to get back up to speed in MX2. She finished 26th in the Qualifying Race, gaining valuable track time and race rhythm.

On Sunday, van Drunen lined up with confidence but couldn’t repeat her top-20 finish from 2024. She crossed the line in 27th place, just outside the points. Despite not scoring this time, her effort in the deep Belgian sand was solid and encouraging.

This MX2 appearance served as excellent preparation ahead of her Home GP in Arnhem in under three weeks, where van Drunen is expected to return to WMX action as the title favorite and local hero.
