After the MXGP of Trentino back in April, where she finished 28th overall, Lotte van Drunen hinted at another possible wildcard appearance later in the season. It’s now official: the reigning WMX World Champion will return to the MX2 class this weekend at the MXGP of Flanders in Lommel, Belgium.
After her crash at Zwarte Cross, she is on the entry list for this weekend. Riding for the De Baets Yamaha MX Team, van Drunen will line up once again against some of the toughest competition in the world, just like she did at Lommel last year. In 2024, the young Dutch talent scored her first MX2 point with a solid 21st place finish.
Known as the “Queen of Sand”, Lotte will be looking to make her mark once again on one of the most physically demanding tracks on the calendar. With a deep and competitive field expected in Lommel, all eyes will be on how the WMX Champion fares against the elite of the MX2 World Championship.
