It had been widely anticipated, and it is now official: the opening round of the 2026 FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship, originally scheduled for April, has been canceled and will not be replaced.
As a result, the season will now kick off in France on May 24th before heading straight to Germany for the second round. Great Britain will host the mid-season round in July, followed by the final European stop in the Netherlands at the end of August.
The championship will conclude in September in Australia, where a strong local presence is expected — as well as the two-time US champion Lachlan Turner — for what promises to be a decisive and exciting finale.
The WMX calendar traditionally features around six rounds, with the number of events fluctuating from year to year. While many riders in the women’s paddock continue to push for an expanded schedule to boost visibility and support the championship’s growth, the 2026 season represents a slight step backward in terms of volume.
With fewer rounds on the calendar, consistency will be more crucial than ever. In such a condensed championship, even the smallest mistake could prove extremely costly in the fight for the world title.
