Lorna Lafont makes history with first World Cup title

While Rachel Gutish celebrated her Women’s Enduro World Championship triumph in Germany, another intense battle was unfolding in Zschopau — this time for the inaugural Extropade FIM Junior Women’s Enduro World Cup title.

By winning on Sunday, Lorna Lafont etched her name into the history books as the first-ever Junior Women’s World Cup Champion. The young French rider had applied pressure on her main rival during Saturday’s racing, setting up a thrilling showdown for the title. Going into Sunday, it was clear that whoever took the win would also take the championship.

Riding for Sherco, Lafont got off to a strong start and steadily extended her lead through each special test. After earning a third-place finish at the ISDE with Team France earlier this season, Lafont now adds a prestigious world title to her growing list of accomplishments — and secures her place as the first winner in FIM Junior Women’s Enduro history.

For Elizabeth Tett, it was a weekend to forget. The British rider arrived in Zschopau as the championship leader but saw Lafont closing in fast on Saturday. Despite a promising start on Sunday, the TM Racing rider couldn’t respond to Lafont’s pace and ultimately finished second overall, tied on points — a heartbreaking result that will surely fuel her motivation for next season.

Poland’s Maja Kozlowska completed the day’s podium ahead of Lea Meier and Hanna Lagher, while Delun Davies, absent from the final round, still managed to secure third place in the championship standings.

A promising first year for this category. We hope it will be a success next year with another great battle for the title.
