After a standout season that highlighted the rise of the sport’s most talented female athletes, the Women’s Motocross Championship (WMX) is poised to reach new heights beginning in 2026 with its official inclusion in the SMX League™. Marking another major milestone, the championship will also welcome leading consumer financing company Synchrony as a presenting partner, officially launching the Women’s Motocross Championship Powered by Synchrony.
The 2026 WMX season will once again feature six rounds held during the summer, each conducted in conjunction with the AMA Pro Racing–sanctioned Pro Motocross Championship. In a significant expansion of its presence, WMX will also make its debut in the SMX postseason with a special showcase race at the Monster Energy SMX World Championship™ Final in September.
“The WMX was a bright spot for the sport last season and will break new barriers entering the 2026 campaign. This is a landmark moment for the WMX and all female enthusiasts within the motocross community”, said Carrie Coombs-Russell, CEO, MX Sports Pro Racing. “We have long been committed to providing a platform for the fastest women’s racers to compete and now have a true global stage to showcase their talents with vital partnership support. Women’s athletics as a whole is finally receiving the attention it deserves, and we’re thrilled that excitement and embrace has expanded to include our corner of the sporting world.”
Competition in 2026 will unfold over two days at each round, with Moto 1 taking place on Fridays and Moto 2 on Saturdays alongside the Pro Motocross Championship’s top stars. The addition of Saturday racing will enable broadcast coverage of all six rounds on Peacock, delivering unprecedented visibility for WMX and expanding its global reach through the SMX Video Pass.
The championship battle will begin at the iconic Hangtown Motocross Classic in Northern California on June 5–6, followed by the Thunder Valley National in Colorado on June 12–13. The series will then travel east to the High Point National near the Mason-Dixon Line on June 19–20. After a midseason summer break, WMX will return for a decisive three-round stretch featuring the Unadilla National in Central New York (August 14–15), the Budds Creek National in Southern Maryland (August 21–22), and the season finale at the Ironman National in Indiana (August 28–29).
One of the most anticipated additions to the schedule is the WMX showcase race at the Monster Energy SMX World Championship™ Final on September 26. This postseason event will feature the world’s elite female motocross athletes competing under the lights on the sport’s biggest stage.
“As the SMX World Championship continues to grow, WMX will play an integral role in that expansion,” said Dave Prater, Vice President of Supercross for Feld Motor Sports. “Synchrony joining as a presenting partner in support of women’s motocross is a powerful endorsement of the value these athletes bring to the sport.”
Central to this landmark season is WMX’s new partnership with Synchrony, a longstanding supporter of the powersports industry through its Synchrony Outdoors division. Known for its advocacy of women in motorcycling, Synchrony has sponsored initiatives such as the 2025 Babes in the Dirt Off-Road Adventure Series in partnership with KTM North America, while also backing efforts to empower riders and encourage more women to enter the sport.
With an established presence in the SMX paddock through team and manufacturer partnerships, Synchrony’s presenting role with WMX is set to elevate the championship to unprecedented levels. This collaboration will deliver the largest platform in WMX history, driving record exposure and viewership and firmly positioning the Women’s Motocross Championship Powered by Synchrony among the world’s premier racing series.
