Sara Andersen returns to the top step of the podium

Ulricehamn, Sweden – The fifth round of the 2025 Swedish Motocross Championship (MXSM) delivered thrilling action, with Sara Andersen making a spectacular return to the top step of the podium after her shoulder injury earlier this season.

After missing races due to her crash at the MXGP of Spain, Sara Andersen (1-2-1) proved she is back at her best. Riding for Wozniak MX Yamaha Racing Team, the Danish rider opened the weekend with a determined comeback ride in Race 1, pulling off several impressive overtakes to take the win. In Race 2, Andersen led early but couldn’t hold off Martine Hughes’ charge. However, in Race 3, she was unstoppable — controlling the pace from start to finish for a dominant victory. This win boosts her confidence heading into the remaining races this season. Martine Hughes (2-1-2) had another consistent weekend, finishing second overall. The Norwegian rider lost valuable time behind Matilda Huss in Race 1, rebounded with a decisive win in Race 2, and secured second in the final race. With this performance, the Kawasaki rider has extended her lead in the championship standings. Matilda Huss (3-4-3) delivered another podium finish but dropped points to Hughes. The Husqvarna rider led much of Race 1, struggled to pass Malou Jakobsen in Race 2, and wrapped up the weekend with a solid third-place finish in Race 3.

A strong performance from Natalie Kane (5-7-4), who took fourth place this weekend. The Irishwoman had her best performance since her return. Three solid races. Well done. Tyra Bäckström (6-5-5) finished fifth in Round 5. The GasGas rider has the pace to hope for a better position, but her starts need to be better to keep up with the podium finishers. The Swede finished just behind Kane in the first race. Jenny Engeland (7-6-6) put in another strong performance. The young Norwegian made good starts in each heat and showed great consistency. A small mistake in the second race.

Malou Jakobsen (4-3-DNF) started the weekend well, battling in the lead group in Races 1 and 2. Unfortunately, a crash in Race 3 ended her podium hopes and left her with a broken collarbone. The KTM Scandinavia / KL Racing Team rider will be sidelined for recovery. Eighth place went to Wilma Hansson (9-8-7), who had one of her best weekends of the season. The Husqvarna rider improved throughout the weekend. She finished ahead of Tuva Nelson (13-10-8), who made a small mistake in the first heat. Annie Nilsson (11-12-10) completed the weekend’s top 10.
