As the day drew to a close at Mini O’s, the country’s best young female riders lined up for the first motocross race in the Girls (11–16) class, showcasing some of the brightest future stars of women’s motocross.
Mayla Herrick grabbed the best start, ahead of Callie Sutton, Tinley McCoy, and Hannah Jamison. From the opening corners, a showdown between Herrick and Jamison felt inevitable. The battle ignited at the end of the first lap, with Mayla defending her line several times before finally giving way on lap three, allowing Jamison to take control and create a small gap. Despite constant pressure from Herrick, the order looked set—until the end of lap four, when Jamison crashed and handed the lead back to her main rival. After a thrilling final lap, Mayla Herrick took the win ahead of Hannah Jamison, keeping everything open heading into the second moto that will decide the overall.
Behind the leading duo, a fierce fight developed for the final podium spot between Callie Sutton and Tinley McCoy. Sutton’s strong start wasn’t enough to keep McCoy behind, as Tinley charged hard in the closing stages to secure third place. Raycin Kyler claimed fifth after a difficult start, moving past Kelsey Harris (6th), Zoe Moore (7th), and Jasey Rae Jones (8th) as the race unfolded. Brinley Shepheard spent the entire moto in a lonely ninth place, while Kenzie Watteyne completed the top ten.
Madison Kazimir, who had launched well, lost several positions in the opening corners. The Husqvarna rider visibly struggled with her pace and eventually retired after two laps.
With Herrick, Jamison, McCoy, and the rest of the Girls (11–16) field setting such a high level, the second moto promises another intense battle—and a decisive fight for the Mini O’s motocross title in this class.
