Belgian rider Amandine Verstappen needs no introduction. Five times French Motocross champion, French Sand Motocross champion at the beginning of the year, winner of a GP in the WMX World Championship, an already well-stocked list of achievements. We asked the leader of the FIM Sand Races World Cup a few questions.
Amandine, you won the French Sand Championship at the beginning of the year, you are leading the French Championship (MXF) before the final, and you are the leader of the FIM Sand Races World Cup. How do you analyze your season so far?
For the moment the season went well. Now I stay focus for the motocross French title (MXF) and Sand World Cup title because there are 4 rounds to go for this one .
Last year you had to find a job; how did your preparation go, and how do you organize yourself for the races?
I stopped working. I have the chance with some extras sponsor that i can be 100% in motocross again but yeah when I worked it was difficult, all the trainings on the bike or physical training were hard because I was already tired from the work so not much riding or training.
How do you see the evolution of the French MXF Championship since you arrived over 10 years ago?
More girls and more better tracks but still a lot of works to do… the tracks are completely different compared to GP.
After a year of absence from the WMX World Championship, you participated in the Italian GP with a strong eighth place in difficult conditions. How did you experience that weekend?
Yeah I was there for fun. 🤣 I’m so bad in mud and I really don’t like but I finished 7 because of redflag p8 so was okay in this conditions.
At the beginning of the year, you planned to participate in the GP of the Netherlands. Will you be on the starting grid in Arnhem?
Yes I will be in Arnhem also to take some fun 😀
On social media, you answered questions from your fans. You said that in 2025 you would participate in the WMX World Championship. Can you confirm this?
Yes in 2025 I’m back in WMX World Championship with Yamaha and my team New bike.
What made you change your mind?
The plan with Yamaha was to take the Sand World title and after come back in GP.
