Danée Gelissen and Theodora Gumeniuc crowned European champions

The 2026 EMX Women’s Championship came to a close this weekend in Pärnu, where Danée Gelissen and Theodora Gumeniuc were crowned European champions after impressive campaigns.

Arriving in Estonia with a comfortable championship lead, Gelissen left nothing to chance. The Dutch rider claimed another overall victory to wrap up the title in dominant fashion. Winner of five rounds and on the podium at the remaining event, she controlled the championship from start to finish and fully deserved the EMX Women’s European crown.

Laura Raunkjaer (2-2) once again finished second overall. Thanks to her consistency throughout the season, the Danish rider secured the European vice-champion title and established herself as Gelissen’s closest rival.

Melissa Mäntylä (3-6) completed the overall podium after another impressive weekend. Despite suffering a heavy crash during qualifying, the Finnish rider bounced back with a strong third-place finish in the opening moto.

The battle for the 125cc title remained open until the final round. Patricija Berzina (7-3) still had a mathematical chance of claiming the championship, but despite another solid weekend, she finished the season as European runner-up.

The title ultimately went to Theodora Gumeniuc, who became the new EMX Women 125 European Champion. The Romanian showed outstanding speed throughout the season and regularly challenged the 250cc riders. Apart from a few minor mistakes, she produced an exceptional campaign and sealed the championship with a strong performance in Estonia.

Making her first appearance of the season, Wilma Hansson (4-5) enjoyed an impressive weekend on home soil. The Swedish rider looked comfortable in both motos and narrowly missed out on the overall podium.

Toke Tops (6-8) added another 125cc podium finish to her season. The young Belgian has consistently impressed throughout the championship and secured third place in the final 125 standings.

Adrija Skudutyte (8-7) had hoped to finish the season on the overall podium. After crossing the line third in the opening moto, the Lithuanian received a five-position penalty for a noise infringement, ending her podium hopes.

Competing in front of her home fans, Marta Koort (9-9) claimed a solid top-ten finish and ended the championship fourth in the 125cc category. Julieta Croci Grassi (10-10) rounded out the overall top ten.

While Gelissen dominated the overall championship from the opening round, the 125cc battle remained undecided until the final weekend, providing a fitting conclusion to an exciting 2026 EMX Women’s European Championship.
