Lorna Lock completes perfect weekend at Casterton

Lorna Lock enjoyed a dominant weekend in the Junior Girls category at Casterton, claiming victory in both the Cross Country and Sprint formats to establish herself as the rider to beat.

Saturday’s Cross Country saw Lock (JGR Offroad) takes control of the race with an impressive display of speed and consistency in the demanding sand conditions. As the track became increasingly rough throughout the nearly two-hour contest, she continued to pull away from the competition and was ultimately the only rider in the class to complete six laps.

Lock’s performance was further highlighted by setting the fastest lap of the race, crossing the finish line with a full lap advantage over the rest of the field.

Behind her, Olivia Johnson and Kaitlyn Aquilina completed strong rides to secure second and third positions respectively after both riders completed five laps. Jessie Harris narrowly missed the podium in fourth, while Alexie Cameron and Codi Kerr rounded out the top six after battling through the challenging conditions.

The following day, Lock carried her momentum into the Sprint event and delivered an equally commanding performance. From the opening test, she established herself at the top of the timesheets and went on to win all six tests, securing a flawless overall victory.

Olivia Johnson once again emerged as her closest challenger, finishing second in every test to comfortably claim the runner-up position overall. The battle for the final podium place proved much tighter, with Kaitlyn Aquilina, Kiera Clements, Jessie Harris and Alexie Cameron all featuring among the front-runners throughout the day.

Aquilina’s consistency across all six tests ultimately earned her third overall, while Clements finished fourth and Harris completed the top five.

By sweeping both formats and winning every Sprint test, Lock capped off one of the most dominant performances of the season. Her commanding display at Casterton reinforced her status as the benchmark rider in the JG category and is a little closer to the title.
