The final women’s motocross race of the week at Mini O’s delivered exactly what everyone was waiting for: a showdown between some of the best female riders on the amateur scene and a chance to complete a perfect week for Lotte van Drunen.
When the gate dropped, Mayla Herrick grabbed the holeshot ahead of Danielle McDonald and two‑time world champion Lotte van Drunen. The Dutch star quickly moved past the Australian to slot into second, and the highly anticipated duel for the overall Mini O’s Women’s title was on.
For several laps, the Honda rider Mayla Herrick put up a strong fight, defending her lines against van Drunen and matching her pace. As soon as Lotte finally got around her on the outside, Herrick made a small mistake, opening the door for the Dutch rider to escape. From there, van Drunen controlled the race, taking another moto win and securing her fourth title at Mini O’s, completing a perfect week in the women’s classes.
Mayla Herrick’s ride confirmed her huge potential. With second place in the moto and second overall, the young American has once again made a lasting impression.—and she gets another shot at a title in tomorrow’s Girls (11–16) category.
Behind the leading duo, Lucy Barker had to fight hard in the opening laps, especially against KTM rider Piper Bell. As the race settled, Barker began to find her rhythm and charged forward. On the final lap, she made a decisive move on Danielle McDonald to secure a podium in both the moto and the overall standings. The three‑time European champion leaves the United States with two podiums and a strong statement about her speed on American soil.
Danielle McDonald, coming off a full GNCC season, also impressed throughout the week. Consistently fast in both Supercross and Motocross, she narrowly missed the podium on both occasions, finishing fourth overall in each discipline. Piper Bell closed out the top five overall. The KTM rider held off Barker for over two laps in the early stages, showing excellent pace and race craft in the Women’s class.
Further back, Tinley McCoy will regret her poor start. The KTM rider had the speed to fight inside the top five and launched a strong comeback through the field. She engaged in a fierce battle with Austrian rider Elena Kapsamer, who initially resisted McCoy’s charge and fought hard to regain positions. At the end of the weekend, the two riders wrapped up Mini O’s sixth and seventh overall, respectively.
Callie Sutton was one of the riders to watch coming into the motocross finale, and the KTM rider delivered a solid performance. After a good start, she held a strong position in the top group before losing two spots on the final lap to McCoy and Kapsamer, but still underlined her potential at national level.
Kelsey Harris backed up her excellent first moto with another strong ride. Despite a bad start in the last race, she charged through the pack to claim ninth at the finish. With a consistent second moto, Jacqueline Ross secured tenth overall and completed the Top 10 in the Women’s category, closing out a stacked field.
With Lotte van Drunen’s perfect week sealed in the Women’s class, all eyes now turn to the second race in the Girls (11–16) category to officially close out the 2026 Mini O’s. With riders like Mayla Herrick back on the gate chasing another championship, the future of women’s motocross looks bright—and fiercely competitive.
