MXGP of Türkiye : WMX Championship Classification

The GP of Türkiye was decisive on several levels for the WMX World Championship. Only one round remains in Australia in 10 days.

Despite a complicated second race, Lotte van Drunen is doing well in the standings and will arrive in Australia with a 16-point lead over Kiara Fontanesi and a 17-point lead over Daniela Guillen. The Italian and the Spaniard were penalized 5 championship points for failing to respect yellow flags. The title will be decided between these three riders, even though the Dutchwoman seems very close to winning. But we have already had many surprises in the history of this championship.

Shana van der Vlist climbs to fourth place despite a complicated weekend. Larissa Papenmeier holds onto fifth place but can hope to gain one more in the final GP. Currently sixth, Amandine Verstappen will not be present in Australia. With her podium finish, Martine Hughes climbs to seventh place in the standings. Behind them is Danée Gelissen, who will not be present in Australia, as are the injured Lynn Valk and April Franzoni, who are currently in the Top 10.

After another strong performance, Lucy Barker is closing in on the Top 10. Malou Jakobsen is twelfth in the championship. The Dane finished her championship in Turkey. Mathea Selebø is thirteenth ahead of Tyra Bäckström. Sara Andersen completes the Top 15 but finished her championship in the Netherlands. Alexandra Massury is sixteenth and can hope to break into the Top 15 with a good performance in Australia. She is followed by Amber Simons and Elena Kapsamer, who could be overtaken by Jana Sanchez.

Laura Raunkjaer is 20th. Nellie Fransson is on the verge of the Top 20 after her performance in Turkey and could gain quite a few positions. Adrija Skudutyte finishes in 22nd place ahead of Fiona Hoppe. Elsa Andersson Löf is 24th ahead of Aneta Cepelaková, who scored six points this weekend and hopes to score more in the championship finale. Cecilia Polato scored her first point and is now in the standings.

As you can see, the championship is over for many drivers. While some can hope to gain positions, Australian and other nationalities will make their mark in the standings. Charli Cannon has her sights set on a podium finish and could play a role in this three-way battle for the title.
